Matt BrobinAmplifier

Matt Brobin started playing drums aged 12 and was soon gigging in local bands in the area. Eventually, he decided to go it alone and formed Amplifier with guitarist Sel Belamir.

Amplifier went from strength to strength after supporting The Deftones at Manchester Apollo and after just two singles, they went on to release their self-titled debut album. 'Amplifier' was nominated for a Mercury Prize and in
2004 it reached number 34 in the Top 50 Albums of 2004.

In March 2008, Amplifier confirmed that they were recording their third and fourth albums simultaneously, but in January 2010, the band confirmed that this had changed and that they planned to release the combined works as a double album, named The Octopus. The album was released online a year later in 2011 which was quickly followed up by a full release in February 2011.
